Lead and leaf

Lead and leaf (MO.51) is a 2010 monotype on paper, 25 × 26,5 cm, printed from a lead plate. An abstract image of a lime leaf and text in mirror writing. Two-colour print from one plate: first the plate is inked, then written into. Then the leaf is inked and printed over it. The text is not pressed into the lead but drawn into the ink layer. After each print the plate is wiped, the ink laid again and the text written in. Each impression therefore has other text, and is unique, bound by the same form.

The plate was pulled in 5 impressions in lime-green, dark-green, and grey-green. Each sheet is inked by hand; no two impressions are the same object.
